sometimes, eventhough something is so incredibly true, we just refuse to obey it... Welcome to the world of post-modernism where justifications of life is derived from individual opinions

I think that this video was well-done but had a lot more potential to be fantastic.

The women interviewed were distinct individuals (where one with the typical Malay mentality riled me riled me riled me), but it seemed unrealistic, for some reason. It didn't seem like an honest portrayal because two of them were just over the top with their responses. Julia undoubtedly was the best, Leyla would ask us to question her idea of liberation with a cigarette in hand, Zulaikha was seemingly pushed in the background-the way she spoke was just too scripted. The other two...=X

"Aurat tu...auratlah!"
Oh THAT'S a winner.

Thanks for sharing it though.

Welcome to the world of post-modernism where justifications of life is derived from individual opinions - afiq

oh how true.

Its a fact baby...

Anyway, I learned that in my Islamic Worldview subject

afiq, there's no such nonsense as "post-modernism" era. what modernism?

"Welcome to the world of post-modernism where justifications of life is derived from individual opinions"

Justifications of life had always been made by INDIVIDUALS. Individuals had always sculpted and directed our life since the beginning of time. Individuals made impact to the public. Hitler. Jesus. Bush. Blair. Moses. Muhammmad SAW. Leonardo Da Vinci. Pope John Paul II.

it's just that we choose to take them as the advice for life or not. again, it's a matter of choice. and it depends heavily on individual's rationality and judgements.

btw aurat is dignity. to lose your aurat is to lose your dignity. it's as simple as that. some people are proud nowadays to not have any personal dignity, but to think of it logically. of course you'd want someone with dignity to prove themselves worthy.

my 5 cent thought.

Rasulullah and other prophets of God did what they did by Allah's will. So they do not act as individuals.

post-modernism does exist. Kalau tak, mcm maner there are post-modernism arcitecture and post-modernism philosophy?

in arch, for example, post modernism arch are individual outlook of beauty and it DOES not rely on the golden section or PHI: nature's law of beauty.

hm.. good arguements. what about the other non-prophets? they did make judgements as individuals, hence making effects towards the society.

after all that is the thing that Americans are proud of, from centuries ago. individuals, making effect towards the society. thus makin them accountable for each of their actions.

forgive me for my ignorance in architecture theoretical materials. for in the medical world (as far as i'm concerned) i have never heard about post-modernism medicine.

phew, phi. 3.142 kan? da vinci certainly thought me more about maths. lol.

there is post modernism in almost everything mirul. even in medicine, both in research field and practitioning too. it occurs in our daily life, everywhere, and unconsciously it grows every second passing by..nampak tak?

even in a single cell, post modernism do exists and it EVOLVES! see it, it's there beyond ur textbook!

*farah taught me about post modernism in economic context and went to the library if it applies to biology too...and yes, it does!*

bye mirul..

maybe many would argue about this, but i see that the practice of medicine is an art..and yes, like art of achitecture!

but postmodernism medicine, it has quite unique definition..i'm sure u knew EBM.

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is modernist medicine!

*sorry, i'm purely not into religion issues..hope tuan rumah tak kisah if i'm talking about medicine here..*

aurah is not dignity la..its more to humility..like wawa said.

I still don't believe in post-modernism medicine.

However I agree medicine evolves according to time, but to think that it will evolve according to specific time is nonsense.

After post-modernism then what? Post, post modernism? Then post, post, post modernism? (Say year 3040)

Maybe the word was created for the person to sound so oh damn contemplative.

it doesnt have to mean what is it meant. For example, ancient ppl dont call themselves ancient..

Bro, veil does not mean tudung mind you. Dalam Bahasa Arab, perkataan yang digunakan adalah "khimar".

"Khimar" is an Arabic word that can be found in the Quran in 24:31 It is the word that the interpreters or translators use to claim that head cover is in the Quran. "Khimar" means, cover, any cover, a curtain is a Khimar, a dress is a Khimar, a table cloth that covers the top of a table is a Khimar, a blanket is a Khimar..etc. Most of the translators, obviously influenced by Hadith (fabrications) translate the word as VEIL or head cover, and thus mislead most people to believe that this verse is advocating the covering of the head.

In 24:31 God is asking the women to use their cover (khimar)( being a dress, a coat, a shawl, a shirt, a blouse, a tie, a scarf . . . etc.) to cover their bosoms, not their heads or their hairs. If God so willed to order the women to cover their heads or their hair, nothing would have prevented Him from doing so. GOD does not run out of words. GOD does not forget. Those who see the head cover in this verse lost their focus of the verse. The verse is ordering the women to be sure to cover their upper chest. The verse does NOT order the women to cover their heads or hair. Even if you accept their interpretation of the word Khimar to mean head cover, the verse is not ordering the women to cover their head but to cover the opening of the chest in their dress. If God wills, He would have given the order clear, cover your heads, but He did NOT. God does not wait for a Scholar to put the correct words for Him!

Ida Tasha you are right...these men who pura2 not to understand the quran are just either women hater or gays..

There is no mention of covering the hair in An Nur. It says "memelihara kemaluan" clearly, so obviously if God want to mention hair God would.

Im not enforcing anything on anyone and I will not debate in this issue because I lack knowledge in this field. Find yourself a competent person to enquire or debate will you?

I believe in what I believe and if you don't agree with me, too bad. And since everyone is entitled to their opinions, I think you're simply making petty justification for your own affairs.

And I think it is fitting to laugh at this notion.

Ida,

Just curious. Are you one of those "Kahfi" ppl who uses "hudan, baiyinat and furqan"?

Or are you one of those "SII" ?

"And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their adornment except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to God together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful"
-translation of surah an-Nur,ayat 31-
and...'khimar',according to the dictionary of classical arabic, is a piece of cloth that is used by a woman to cover her head..not the chest..feel free to do some more references okay :)
