My brother told me once that he could never understand some of the short films I made. He said it was to artsy to be thoroughly enjoyed. "Artsy?" I rebuked. "Abang pernah tengok filem screening yang seribu kali pelik daripada apa yang Hadi rasa artsy!"
I know he meant well. So what better way to prove that I can make easily understandable stories than to make an action film.
For this film, I tried my very best to not overthink the script and flow. It's a film about a student who tries his best to greet his friend at the train station. The only limits I had to deal with is a 3 minute maximum time and the usual no nudity/obscenity regulation. The theme for this film is Malaysian hospitality.
Enjoy.

So kesimpulannya Hadi dapat jemput kawan dia ke tak? *hehe sorry la still blur
Tp macam tade improvement sangat la Afiq. It looks just like your other videos. Maybe it's just me, idk. The actors looked stiff & from 1 scene to another mcm too sudden. Maybe you should play more with the camera? Good job, nonetheless! :)
I know it's hard to compress it all in 3min and still be creative.
Yang lacking, scene yg dia lari2 tu terus jump ke scene hour 1900.Mcm ada something missing..that makes the video does not reflect the title.Jemput? hospitality?
Suggestion- Maybe you could trim some part of the intro, and add in some more just before the ending part.
Nice work, and gud luck!
i actually enjoyed e video.
e eating kueh part is funnie. =D
n i noticed most of your videos are very 'penang'.
have only been to penang once..
maybe when i was 10..? haha.
bro, better use another title lor..and at least editing the font of the title...
ur story wasn't too artsy but ur title might be...
Point taken, zura.
THANKS A LOT Anoneemus. I'm re-editing the video to make it simpler, and trimming the intro.
I'll show the re-edited version in a few hours.
I totally get this. I think. You inserted fractions of hospitable gestures throughout his journey to jemput the person. Whether or not he did pick the person up is mostly immaterial. Or secondary. But judging by the moderate smiley in the end, I'm guessing he did.
Well that's just my zombie brain's interpretation. Could be wrong. Doesn't change the fact that it was concise. To me. Cheers.
Oh loved the sweatily gobbling down the kuih bit btw.
i think a lot of people won't get it and I'm serving this platter to (hopefully) a bigger audience so I edited it to make the storyline more lateral.
I like to make cliffhangers butttttt cliffhangers often serve as a disadvantage because most people watch videos to distract themselves from thinking.
i always like the style that u put in all your film.
in my opinion,
i love the mysterious and the think outside the box style that u always do.
which is different from others.
it shown your own interpretation and the other creative way how you elaborate your ideas into a film.
anyway, good job for this one.
nice. I like the simplicity of this :)
thanks emma. I'm flattered. I do what I can with a one man crew film production. I seriously need to collaborate with other filmmakers. That would be fun, don't you think?
anonymous,
yep, most of my shorties so far have a northern taste to them. That's because I'm a penangite.
A collaboration always a good ideas to produce something even better.
=)
kat mane awk cari sound and music effect citer Jemput....its awesome
"kat mane awk cari sound and music effect citer Jemput....its awesome"
There's a lot la in internet. Google.
Btw I'm a little bit distracted by the shakes in the film. In the part where the kid climb up the fence, the camera shakes, I think that it's a distraction. But you are using a tripod right?
But it's hard to interpret an extremely creative film especially people like me who are lazy to think. But in my opinion, your short commercial or whatever it is, is about variety meaning of the title, "Jemput", The main was jemput kawan dari stesen keretapi. Other than that, nenek jemput makan jemput2, the father jemput anak makan, jemput kawan makan sekali etc
Huh I dunno. But you always come with good ideas. Good job! I believe you are going to success in this film making. Break a leg.
can u give me a keyword for search the music effect on google...
the soundtrack used is from a soundtrack library CD so you have to buy the CD to get the soundtrack. it is also not copyrighted so i dont think it is registered under any company.
Thats basically the whole point of jemput, to show how hospitable malaysins can be, even when we're in a pinch,
The camera is shaky because it has no image stabiliser. n u know how shakiness can make a film feel more action-y. : p
where u buy soundtrack cd...
At any software shops. I bought mine at Midland Mall in Penang. In KL, you can look for software cd/dvd shops at Sungei Wang and BB plaza
